Omurice Surprise!

Usually it's my dad or my uncle who cooks our breakfast, but yesterday I woke up with no one else to do it but me. So with left-over rice and my love for Korean food, I instantly knew what I'd cook... Omurice! I know... It doesn't look appetizing but it tastes good. Seriously... it tastes good. Aside from the left-over rice (about 1 1/2 cup), I grab 1 onion, 2 hot dogs, ketchup (about 2 tbsps.), and 4 eggs for this recipe. This dish is a no-brainer, just mix everything, except for the eggs, and you're good! Saute the onion and hot dogs. You can add vegetables like carrots, peas, or any vegetables you like. You can also use ham instead of hot dogs, it's really up to you. After a minute or two add the rice Add the ketchup. Fold it until well blended and set it aside. Trip to Maginhawa Street

Maginhawa Street in Teacher’s Village Quezon City is heaven for food lovers. With all sorts of restaurants located in the area, it has been part of every food trippers’ bucket list. Out of the many food stores in Maginhawa, I’m able to try 4 restos with my brother and HS friends yesterday even though it’s raining. A Worth Having Haircut

If Ice Bucket Challenge is for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), then haircut challenge is for... Cancer. Yesterday, Matrix Philippines held a life-changing event at SM North EDSA called "8-inch Cut for Cancer Challenge". The challenge asked women to donate at least 8 inches of their hair for the benefit of Filipino cancer kids.                                        The lovely ladies who accepted the challenge At first I was hesitant to join, not because I don't want to donate or cut my hair but because I don't know how short my hair would become after the challenge. I already have a short hair (about an inch below the shoulder) to start with, so if 8 inches will be deducted from it, I thought (I just thought) I'll be more likely close to being bald (kinda exaggerated  but it's what I thought). Tuna Dukbokki at Home

When you crave for Korean food and you don't have enough budget to eat in a Korean restaurant, you'll be forced to cook your own Korean food just to satisfy your craving. For our breakfast today, I prepared one of the popular street food in Korea... Dukbokki (Spicy Rice Cake)! This super easy to make dish will surely spice up your day! Ingredients: 250 g Rice Cakes 1 can (150 g) Tuna 1 1/2 Tbsp. G ochujang (chili paste) 1 1/4 c. Shrimp stock (1 shrimp cubes dissolved in water) 1 pc. Onion, chopped 3 cloves Garlic, minced 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar Procedure: Soak rice cakes to soften.  Saute onion, garlic, and tuna. Pour in shrimp stock, sugar, gochujang , and rice cakes. Stir from time to time while waiting for the sauce to thicken. You can now eat the Tuna Dukbokki ! You can serve it with sliced spring onion or sesame seeds.  Sigsaleul jeulgil su! In english, enjoy your meal!

I'm Learning How To Cook!

When I was in grade 6, I (with my teacher or guardian) was always the representative of our school in cooking contests. In high school, I’d actively participate in our cooking lessons in Home Economics. But my heart was not into cooking, so I grew up loving foods but not putting too much effort into cooking. But since I’m in my mid-20’s I made a conscious decision to learn how to cook. I’d search for recipes online, read cook books or watch cooking shows and then try cooking out the recipes. I’ve decided to cook for my family at least once a week and try posting the recipes and my cooking experience here (haha! Actually, I’ve started 2 weeks ago, my  1 st recipe was the Pininyahang Manok , for the recipe click here ).  I made this decision as a gift for myself! Last Saturday, I made 2 dishes. A Twist to Pininyahang Manok

I love pineapple but mixing it in a viand is a no-no for me, but today I tried to make my own version of Pininyahang Manok . Here's what you need: 1 kg chicken cut into serving portion 5 cloves garlic minced 1 pc. medium onion sliced 1 large can pineapple chunks 2 pcs. medium carrots wedged 5 pcs. small potatoes wedged 1 small can of liver spread 1/2 pack of cheddar cheese grated Procedure: Marinate chicken in pineapple juice (from the can of pineapple chunks) for 30 minutes/ more.   Saute onion and garlic in a little oil, then add chicken, cover and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add pineapple juice (which was used for marination), pineapple chunks, carrots, potatoes, liver spread, and grated cheese. Let simmer until potatoes are soft. Add seasoning (I used Namnam ) to taste. Viola! You can now serve the Pininyahang Manok ! I'm not a good cook. I've tried to cook viands a lot of times but most of the time 'twas
